What are we doing?
September 13th, 2003 My house with a through draught growingly confronts me, these late summer days, with the great joys of outdoor living, as for the second time a ceiling plate with some litres of leaked water atop it has succumbed under its own soaked weight and fallen down in the middle of night, water and all. In the living, this time (to the astonishment of the cat, who didn't pay any notice whatsoever the first time this happened). The first plate gave way directly above my bed, in the first week I lived here, in 1998, so it's taken a long time before the roof really got so bad that the next one went. Natural living for ya! We recently received the, by itself utterly pleasing, word from project developer Imca that we can go on living here for at least another 3 to 5 years, because it will yet take that long before they start demolishing and redeveloping our lot, as part of the 'New Energy' project. The utterly interesting question now is whether or not the building itself will make it to that point in time. I feel that movie of my life is getting better by the minute. |
