What are we doing?

...but very nice to then amply (6-0 namely) make up for that, as a country. Wesley Snijder deserves a medal, for doing, what must be done. Long live Van the Man. And so wonderful, the BBC: "Frank de Boer adds a fifth as Holland finally live up to their intimidating reputation by taking Scotland apart", and "Van Nistelrooy completes the 6-0 win with hat-trick after 66 minutes and Scotland suffer their worst defeat for 42 years". You would not grant them this, for they are decent Scots: 'round Central Station in Amsterdam, where I passed among them yesterday, before the game, the atmosphere was utterly cordial.

And in 'The Scotsman' they pen this: "The big man racked up his treble by making an untracked run on to a low centre from Van der Meyde and knocking the ball right-footed to the left of Douglas from 12 yards. It was not the shock of the night that he should be given an ovation when he was replaced by Patrick Kluivert after 77 minutes. In a match in which they blew away all the criticisms of their performance in Glasgow and reduced the Scots to zombies, it was the least he and his team-mates deserved". But rightly so, and still therefore: hurrah, hurRAH, HURRAH. My condoleances, to Scotland. The Scots turn out to be better losers, than we shall ever be.

And, I'd never thought I'd ever say this: my thanks to the Wanadoo-helpdesk. They didn't help me last night, true, but they did try to, very much so, and in the end, all by itself, all set itself to right: following months of ado, Martijn 'Don' Smit, of A., has finally a got a working DSL-connection on a pleasantly fast pizza-box.

Hurrah, hurrah, hurrah.
