What are we doing?

January 11th, 2005

PEEVED! Being so, very much: we have today been temporarily found unfit for the National Guard, for a period of 6 months, after which we can apply for the sports test again. We were not allowed to take it today, namely (we did, of course, spend the entire day there, for the urine-, eye-, ear- and dental-examinations that all went well, the ECG, the physiotherapeutical examination, which did not go so well, and the general medical examination, ditto therefore). This because of the medial ligament in my left knee not being entirely healed yet (it was damaged about a month and a half ago, in a fall on slippery wet pavement), but with the note that they would rather declare me unfit for 6, than 3 months because of my overweight and suspected (having not taken the test, after all) generally insufficient shape.

That sounds a lot different than the sounds at Health Center Spaarneboog (the local gym), where I was told I was in more than reasonable shape, and my knee was up to its full capacity again, although I was also informed (by the physiotherapist there) that, pulsewise, like so many there, I wasn't training in the right rage, for losing weight and bettering shape - that range lies between 145 and 155 beats a minute, for my 38 years and present 95 kilos, not at the maximum 140 that I reached up to now with the exercises I'd been given (by the instructors there).
