What are we doing?

February 16th, 2011

Today, battle begins. We don't care how long it lasts and what the result is: it is fun enough just to fight it.

We've kept quiet for a long while, to give the media the chance to show their best behaviour.

But we sent out hundreds of press releases that were largely ignored.

This is logical.

See, Snypher.com is something media would rather not see. Look at the explanation and you'll understand why:

And they can hardly be blamed for this. Who wants to pay for something they still get for free now?

But in the meantime, it's very odd this should still be so. For professional photographers and filmmakers DO make money off newsworthy material.

And okay, it's logical an amateur would get less, since he delivers less quality. But nothing at all?

So, that so few media react to our press releases tells us two things:

  1. we're onto something here.
  2. that a few DO react means the others are wrong: those few realize that civic journalism is an inevitable, not necessarily bad, but instead good, and useful development.

Now all we need to get things rolling is that you, as civic journalist, seize power.

Through Snypher, because then you won't have to go through the trouble of approaching each individual media company separately on your own.

Also, you then usually lose the rights to your material, and a company like that often demands exclusivity.

At Snypher.com you, as a snypher, retain your rights, you DO get paid, you're protected by Snypher's licence agreement and you profit from the power of multitude: the material of the one increases attention for that of the other.

It's a matter of time before the media who aim to remain thieves of your money realize that the rest, who do not, are doing the right thing.

And time we have plenty of. In the meantime we'll use it to improve our product: the first real platform for civic journalism on this globe.

So do not hesitate to tell us if it can be bettered in any way: we will attempt to.

Together, we can change the world. Seems to us that is reason enough.
